3D2/R – Rotuma I.

The Pacific Islands DXpedition Group (PIDXG) announces that Gregg, W6IZT; Hal, W8HC; Nathan, K4NHW and 3 additional operators (to be announced) will operate from Rotuma (3D2/R) November 15 to December 4, 2024.

Preliminary plans call for the team to operate locally with 3 stations in addition to 2 of Gregg’s NexGenRiBs (remote radio systems) that proved successful during the recent CB0ZEW DXpedition at Robinson Crusoe Island (Juan Fernandez).

The team will also participate in the CQWW CW Contest using a different callsign from the DXpedition. Necessary permits and licensing has been secured in addition to confirmed accommodations for the DXpedtion’s location on the island’s north coast.

Currently Rotuma stands at #68 on the Club Log Most Wanted List. Pse QRX for more information

OJ0T – Market Reef

First off, let’s start with a status update: We have deployed most antennas and all four stations are on the air most of the time. About 4000 contacts so far. We’re trying our best to focus on the upper bands, such as 10-12-15-17, but conditions are not optimal at all times. More activity on 160m, 60m, 30m will follow the next few days.

Second, we kindly ask callers to please listen to the operator! We truly appreciate everyone calling in, and we kindly ask everyone to follow some sort of etiquette when it comes to pileups. Do not interrupt an ongoing QSO, and do not respond when we’re calling someone else. Even if a letter in the suffix happens to match one in your prefix, or the numbers are similar. This means fewer QSOs per minute for us, which decreases everyone’s chance of ending up in the log – and this includes you, too.

E51CZZ E51KEE. Cook Is.

Steve, E51CZZ and Steve, E51KEE will be QRV from Rarotonga (OC-013) and Aitutaki (OC-083) from July 20 to August 6, 2024. Active on 40-10m (mainly 20-15-10). Possibly 160 & 80 depending on QRN and interest from DXers. Antennas: verticals on beach / end-fed longwires. Holiday-style activity with XYLs.

QSL via LoTW.

  • Rarotonga: 20 July – 2 August 2024.
  • Aitutaki: 3 – 6 August 2024.

3G0YA – Easter I.

The 160m noise on the EU Beverage continued all through the night. All QSOs in the night were decoded on the South-East Beverage. The JA Beverage has less noise, but signals were so weak that many contacts remained unfinished. In the next night we will operate the (combined 80/160m) antenna on 80m.

No puedo ofrecer ningún certificado o placa.

THE WPX PROGRAM NEEDS YOUR HELP

<![if !vml]>

<![endif]>As you are aware, CQ Magazine stopped publishing after September 2023 for financial reasons. Sadly, this extraordinary publication that has brought technical articles, news and support of the worldwide amateur radio community since 1945 may have come to an end.

The CQ World Wide WPX Contest now is administered by the World Wide Radio Operators Foundation (WWROF) but the WPX Program is in limbo. The WPX Honor Roll no longer can be listed in CQ Magazine. The WPX Program Manager (N8BJQ) appears to be seeking to end his administration of the WPX Program after many years of time-consuming and thdughtful efforts.

I have been active in the WPX Program for over 50 years, similar to many other stations. My correspondence with over 75 Honor Roll stations shows a strong interest in maintaining the program after their years of time and funds spent working and confirming new prefixes. The rule for deleting unused prefixes after ten years became overwhelming to apply to each station on an annual basis as many of those prefixes became active again. My survey in 2023 of the top Honor Roll stations showed 100% support for deleting this rule.

In order to maintain the continuity of the WPX Program, I have created a short- term solution until such a time that a new organization and WPX Program Manager takes over. The Honor Roll Listing has been set up on the W1CU QRZ.com page for all modes. To simplify the Program, stations need to only send me their all-time confirmed totals in each mode, without any deletions. The totals are updated on a real-time basis. I am not able to offer any certificates or plaques.

I have attempted to send emails to every station listed on the Honor Roll in September 2023 and more than 75 have responded with their prefix totals. My only source of email addresses is QRZ.com. Some email addresses no longer are active and some of my emails may have gone to spam folders. I would appreciate your assistance by including this information in your organization’s publication and with any other publicity that you can provide. This would alert existing Honor Roll members to the site where they can continue to view all of the Honor Roll information. Further, it would encourage others to join and support the continuation of the WPX Program. Thank you in advance for your help.

TX7W Operating Modes and Frequencies

TX7W will operate at or near these frequencies, subject to QRM or local QRN. We will emphasize CW and FT8, some SSB, RTTY, FT4 may be attempted. CW, SSB, RTTY operation will be split, listening up. FT8 on the DXpedition frequencies will be multi stream mode, not F/H. Depending upon the size of the pileups, we may operate single stream normal mode on the standard FT8 frequencies. We will occasionally operate on the US General Class frequencies.

3D2CCC – Conway Reef

3D2AJT will go QRT on Wednesday (April 17), earlier than planned due to 3D2CCC Conway Reef preperations. Equipment will be packed on to our new vessel and we should set sail soon. It should take about 35 hours to reach Conway Reef if weather stays calm. Limited internet connection during activity. 2 man activity. Priority FT8 for small pistols who really need 3D2/C.

A8OK – Liberia

Yesterday we have had another challenge and first experience for us. We made first ever 432MHz EME QSO from Liberia. And first ever EME QSO OK-EL between OK1DFC and A8OK.

FT4GL – Glorioso Is.

On March 15, 2024 we officially announced the FT4GL operation after receiving the license from TAAF, despite a first refusal in 2023. In less than a month, the team in charge of supporting Marek FH4VVK, succeeded in its objective of mobilizing international aid, by individual, associative and professional sponsors, in order to acquire the equipment, test it, organize the logistics..a lot of work in addition to our jobs, stress, questions, joy… but we have arrived at this new stage. Yesterday, Jean-Marc F5RQQ and Fabrice F4FTV went to our main sponsor PROSIC – F5HPE, who supports this operation with dedication. Their trip consisted of bringing the rest of the equipment, part of which was already at PROSIC, in order to crate 90% of all the stations. The material will be sent tomorrow by plane to Mayotte, which Marek FH4VVK will receive in the coming days. F5RQQ and F5TVL will go to FHN in a month to help Marek finalize certain technical points and give the last organizational instructions before his flight to Glorieuse. Thanks to everyone who trusted us and helped us so far, the work is not finished.
